Daniel Gonnella

Psychologist

Daniel is a registered Psychologist currently completing his registrar program to work towards an endorsement in clinical psychology. In his professional experience he has worked with a range of psychological challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, relationship concerns and adjustment difficulties. Daniel also has a background in cognitive and academic assessment, resulting in diagnoses of various Specific Learning Disorders.

Daniel incorporates evidence-based approaches and primarily follows the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model to target the core beliefs of individuals which are driving their unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Additionally, he draws from other modalities including Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

Daniel provides a warm and welcoming therapeutic environment which provides those he works alongside with a sense of empowerment and comfortability. His priority in all episodes of care is to build a relationship based on trust and compassion, where he believes this relationship is the primary facilitator for positive change. Ultimately, Daniel’s goal is to support his clients in achieving psychological wellbeing and to guide them towards a more balanced, meaningful, and fulfilling life.
